Coastal rowing club afloat

The Firth of Clyde Coastal Rowing Club proudly show their newly built skiff to Magnox Ltd who provided socio-economic funding of £3900 to build the boat.

The skiff, named 'The Thistle' by local primary school pupils, was built by a large number of volunteer boat builders from Fairlie and West Kilbride at the Fairlie Boat Builders Workshop over the past year.

The Coastal Rowing Club are hoping to increase membership and raise awareness of the sport, allowing more people to participate in the local area as well as being able to compete at events throughout the country.

Martin Hughes of Fairlie Boat Builders said: "The project has not only reached out to a whole bunch of enthusiastic local volunteer boat builders, but we estimate that we will be able to provide an experience in the skiff to over 200 local people."
